Tannenbaum Historic Park tells the story of everyday life in the Backcountry of
North Carolina before, during and after the Revolutionary War Battle of Guilford
Courthouse. The site preserves a remnant of the 150- acre farmstead of Joseph Hoskins.
Hoskins served the 18th-century Guilford County community as a constable, tax
collector and as sheriff. During the battle on March 15, 1781, Hoskins' farmstead served as a staging area for British troops under General Charles Cornwallis, who described the area as "a considerable plantation."
